Purpose: 

Use a grammar checker to find three errors in your paper and explain why you made the error, according to the grammar checker. Grammar checkers are handy for finding any spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors that you have made in your paper, but did you know that they can also explain why what you did is considered incorrect? Everyone makes spelling or grammatical mistakes, even your professors, but we should really take the time to learn how to avoid the mistake in the first place. Knowing grammar rules and fixing your most common spelling errors will make you a more confident writer and save you from embarrassing situations in the future.

Task: 

1. Use Grammarly or Microsoft Word’s grammar checker and find three errors in your paper.
2. For each error:
   • If it is a grammar or style error, click on the error to display the rule that the grammar checker says you have broken and paste that rule below. Return to the examples in the lesson “Using Grammar Checkers…” for help.
   • If it is a spelling error, take a moment to think up a trick for remembering the correct spelling in the future. For example, ‘receive’ is a commonly misspelled word. In the correct spelling of ‘receive,’ e comes before i. The correct spelling may be remembered by the sentence: “Rece, I’ve got to talk to you.” Make up your own way to remember the spelling of your commonly misspelled word(s).
3. Start a new discussion post and share the three errors, along with the rule broken or the trick you’ve come up with.
