Once you have selected your population, navigate the tabs on the left (asthma to stroke) and investigate the health of your chosen population. Select one health disparity to report on.
For the discussion:
- Identify the population and health disparity (ie. Asian Americans are 40 percent more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than non-Hispanic whites). Make sure to cite.
- Search the literature for the chosen population and health disparity. Discuss what is known about the health disparity in the chosen population. Why does this disparity likely occur? What has been done to address it or what should be done? Incorporate journal articles.
- Identify 2 ways nurses can advocate for and/or influence policy that would address the health disparity in this population.
