Civic Engagement
What is the importance of joining a professional nursing organization? How might joining an organization help you to better engage with your community to effect change?
Being a nurse as a change agent will require your participation in civic engagement; to effect change, you must advocate for and support your community and health initiatives. While you certainly can do this as an individual, the help and support of professional organizations often allows these efforts to be more fruitful.
In this Discussion, you will explore potential professional nursing organizations to join, and you will explore your past, present, and future civic engagement.

- Reflect on previous or future civic engagement in which you have participated or will participate.

- What type of civic engagement have you participated in, or what type of civic engagement might you be interested in participating in? Be specific by connecting your experiences to your community.
